What will I do as a member?
Interact has meetings every first and third Wednesday of the month. Meetings are held in the Media Center at 7:10 am. Throughout the year, members participate in service and to be considered an active member, you must acquire at least 6 points throughout the year. Every Interact sponsored event you participate in counts as 1 point.
What if I can't make it to the meetings?
As a responsible member, you need to find out what you missed. This can be done by checking the website or asking an officer. The agenda will also be emailed to each member prior to each meeting.
How is Interact related to NHS or Key Club?
Although they also perform community service, they are not connected. Interact is project based with hands on activities that are done in collaboration with the adult Rotary club of Rochester and the Roteract club at Oakland University. You cannot use points earned from Interact toward NHS/Key Club or vice versa. Points can only be earned for Interact through Interact sponsored events.
Interact is supposed to promote leadership. How will I get leadership experience as a member?
At our meeting, we plan out our events. By participating in them, you will be leading amazing service projects in school and around the community! The biggest way to show leadership as a member is by heading an event. Seniors are required to head a service project to receive a stole, but the advisor and officers are happy to help guide each student in the process. We want to help you become the most effective leader that you can be!
Are there any requirements for joining Interact?
No! Anyone with a passion to help others is welcome to join! Interact is a service club, so there are no fees required.
How can I contact the officers?
The best way to contact us is through email. Although parents can email us as well, it is preferred that the member contacts us. This shows responsibility, and as it is a student organization, it makes more sense for them to be the person writing the email. The officers are always happy to answer questions, so members should feel free to contact us. No question is a bad question! You can find all contact information on the "Contact" page by hovering over "Info".
